A rare and fine Scottish Mauchline ware snuff box of
highly unusually small dimensions, with hand painted penwork hunting scene to
the front, inscribed "The gored Huntsman" to the bottom right
hand corner.

The back and sides are covered with with a tartan-like cross-hatch decoration. |

The concealed hinge is in perfect condition and the box is still very much snuff-tight. Remnants of the metal lining are in evidence. |
