The date of "1781" and initials "EHS" on this box have probably been added
later as the whole shape and style of the box is from The Low Countries
and of an earlier, mid-18th century date.
The shape of the box is complex - double serpentine. |

The hinge is a real hand-made period piece, in good condition, secured to the wood with little brass nails. |
