A Scottish, baluster-shaped snuff mull, made from ivory or bone and silver mounted.

The rim is inscribed to "G. Scott 1828," although it is possible the mull pre-dates this, as very similar mulls are sometimes found with an earlier, 18th century date inscribed on them.

The hinge and lid are in fine working order.
Note the small ridge around the mull close to the base. This is a feature of all mulls of this kind and presumably exists to help the owner grip the snuff mull!
